Each year communities and organizations across Canada take time in March to recognize the hard work, dedication, resilience and compassion of social workers. In Ontario, we honour these caring professionals during the first week of March (March 4-10, 2024.)
The 2024 theme, Social Work Opens Doors, speaks to the many ways that social workers help Ontarians open doors to greater mental wellbeing, safety and stability, creating new and empowering pathways for the people they support. Social workers support Ontarians navigating various challenges, including family violence, addictions, caregiver stress, abuse and bullying. They use their unique expertise to identify causes of stress, help with the development of coping skills, find solutions to problems and connect people with the resources they need.
The Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) has created a poster along with other resources to celebrate Social Work Week 2024, which can be found on their website. They are also hosting several events throughout the month, both online and across Ontario. Join the conversation on social media using the hashtag #SocialWorkOpensDoors.
