The Children's Aid Society of London and Middlesex (CASLM) is responsible for personal information under its control and is committed to a high standard of privacy for our information practices. The CASLM has adopted the overarching 10 Principles of Privacy as set out in the legislation.
At CASLM we respect our service user’s rights regarding personal information, including your right to:
- consent to or refuse collection, use or disclosure of personal information to the extent permitted by law;
- access your personal information and to make requests to correct your record to the extent permitted by law;
- be notified if your personal information is accessed inappropriately and request an audit;
- know to whom your personal information has been disclosed; and,
- challenge the CASLM’s compliance with privacy laws and with our own policy.
The CASLM has established a Privacy Officer designate to be a resource for privacy issues and to provide the following services:
- advocate for service user and staff privacy within the organization;
- act as a consultant on privacy matters;
- facilitate implementation of privacy laws and principles;
- collect annualized data as required by the Information and Privacy Office of Ontario;
- audit and evaluate organizational processes to ensure compliance with privacy laws and organizational policy; and,
- develop and update privacy related policies and processes.
