I began my fostering journey in 2010. I am a single mother of two children, one who was very sick for his entire life and passed away September 2022 at the age of 19. I have a diploma in Early Childhood Education diploma from Conestoga College and have worked in daycare settings, followed by currently within the school system.
In 2010, I decided to become a foster parent through the Children’s Aid Society when I heard about the many children entering foster care, knowing that I could help provide each child with the love and care they deserve. What a great decision it has been! As a single parent, I have been able to continue working outside of the home while fostering children. The agency and workers are excellent and very accommodating and supportive. Staff care about their foster caregivers and our families. It is evident.
I have fostered elementary and secondary school-aged children full-time, and provide temporary respite foster care.
Working with CAS is a rewarding experience. It is the most amazing feeling to foster a child that needs love, routine and a plan. I provide them with consistent love and care and in turn, I get the privilege of watching them flourish in more ways than I thought possible.
When a child comes into our home, we make them feel welcome, we find out what they are interested in, likes and dislikes, tastes in food and just learn about each other.
Making a difference in the life of just one human is amazing and I would not trade it for the world!
